Brief respite for Burns Park geese: Get out and suggest some alternative solutions: I can't drive to NLR to speak but, if I did, I would probably tell those who want to destroy the geese to 'make peace with nature' and get a real life.

People had planned on that for Christmas dinner. And, the bounty would have been shared with the hungry among us. Not everyone can go to a hunting club, money is kind of tight these days...

I'm not a fan of Commodore Hays, but I give him credit on this issue for having an open mind, listening to numerous constituents and others who opposed the so called "hunt", and having the guts to change his mind and acknowledge that there may be a better solution than the planned slaughter- oh, sorry "hunt", I keep forgetting. It would have been nothing of the sort.

Okay folks, now is your chance to tender suggestions by Thursday to fix the problem of soccer moms stepping in deep doo-doo.

Gotta wonder if Hays grandkids asked him: "Grandpa, why are you going to kill 150 geese?" Geez, that's like shooting Santa when he comes down the chimney!

BREAKING: A reprieve issued for Burns Park geese
I didn't see the full discussion, but I caught the tail end of the North Little Rock City Council meeting tonight at which the Council agreed with Mayor Pat Hays to postpone next week's planned controlled goose hunt in Burns Park to reduce the flock of near-domesticated waterfowl.
